Jefferson Hamer is a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of the traditional music of Ireland, Great Britain, and Appalachia. He is a skilled instrumentalist and natural harmony singer, and his numerous musical collaborators include Anais Mitchell, Amy Correia, Session Americana, Laura Cortese, and The Bee Eaters. His own songs have been recorded by artists Joy Kills Sorrow and Reed Foehl, and in a 2011 review of his solo acoustic performance, the New York Times called him an “appealing voice”. In January of 2012, Jefferson and Anais Mitchell recorded an album of seven all-new lyric adaptations of Francis James Child’s English and Scottish Popular Ballads, set for release later this year. His last record “This Ragged World We Spanned” was released on Brooklyn’s Media Blitz label.
