The 28th Annual fRoots Critics Poll 2013

Albums Of The Year Nominees

Every year since 1986 fRoots has polled experts in the UK and worldwide to decide the Album Of The Year in the fields of music which we champion – folk, roots and world music. With over 300 writers, broadcasters and activists on the panel, the fRoots Critics Poll For Albums Of The Year is long established as the most extensively researched and prestigious annual poll of its kind, the de facto flagship industry award.

Along the way, we added a separate poll category for Reissues & Compilations and more recently a Best Packaged Album category. Here are all the winners down the years.

We’re now pleased to reveal, in alphabetical order, the top nominees for the New Album and Best Reissue/Compilation for 2013.

This year’s winners will be revealed exclusively by BBC Radio 3 in a special edition of World On 3 broadcast from 11pm on Friday 6th December, hosted by Lopa Kothari, and here from 10th December.
